Tour The Ship

PS is a 50 foot custom built yacht designed for comfort and reliability in all weather conditions. She contains sleeping accommodations for 9 passengers, full galley facilities, and ample space for recreational equipment. PS is capable of cruising at speeds up to 14 knots for extended periods, and she can comfortably operate in weather that less capable boats would find difficult. At the same time, her high horsepower and cruising speed can see her into protected waters if desired.

PS Interior
Accommodations

The sleeping accommodations of PS are divided into four areas. The forpeak cabin contains 4 large bunks that can be divided with curtains. The lower sleeping area has a large folding double bed. The salon area also has a large folding bed. The pilot house contains the crew's quarters.

A full galley is provided including a stove, microwave, refrigerator, and large freezer for storing your catch and carrying a large variety of frozen supplies.

To take care of the end of day cleanups, a hot shower or bath is available as well as built in washer and dryer. There is a water maker onboard to supply ample fresh water needs.  For chilly and wet days, there is a forced air furnace to keep the interior warm. This can be supplemented by a driftwood stove in the cabin.

Pilot House

Pilot House
The pilot house is the operation center of the boat. It contains all controls, navigation, and electronics equipment for safe and efficient operation. PS is fully equipped with all equipment for accurate navigation, short and long range communication, and Radar for all weather operation.

The latest addition is a computerized satellite navigation system that automatically displays a moving map of exact vessel position, allowing passengers to view their location at any time. In addition, this system, by it's greater accuracy, allows operation closer to shorelines and increased safety in shallow waters.

A 360 degree color sonar as well as a recording depth sounder are available for fish finding and bottom exploration. A video camera will be available for underwater viewing.

Ample room in the pilot house for 6 or more people allows uncrowded movement while under way. Most equipment on the boat is redundant, ensuring a safe trip.

Equipment

PS is well equipped for fishing, exploration and side trips. She carries 14' and 10' inflatable Zodiacs with outboards, and a 13' row boat with sail.

Fishing gear, and shrimp and crab gear with power retrieval is available. There is the capability to set up a recirculating salt water aquarium for the preservation and viewing of live specimens.

PS is equipped with deep water anchor gear, and paravane stabilizers to reduce motion in rough water and reduce wave motion while at anchor.

Capabilities

PS can comfortably and safely access the exposed and frequently deserted coves and beaches of the west coast of the islands of Canada and Alaska. PS is a veteran of 2 Gulf of Alaska crossings and has circumnavigated both Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlotte Islands. PS has been as far as Valdez, Alaska.  PS is equipped for deep water shrimp, prawn, and crab gathering with ample line and mechanized retrieval.

PS would appeal to the rugged individualist in all of us, and those who would rather explore off the beaten track. The emphasis on PS is for comfort and function, not 'Flash'. PS is well received in smaller marinas and village sites.

History

The PS was built for an established Seattle family to explore the west coast of Vancouver Island, the Queen Charlotte Islands, and Alaska. The boat has crossed the Gulf of Alaska two times and has explored Prince William Sound.

The hull was built by the Rawson Corp., a manufacturer of rugged Alaskan fishing vessels. The vessel was completed by Anchor Jensen of Jensen Motorboat Company, a respected boat builder who specializes in boats designed for maximum performance and durability.  One of Jensen's more notable boats is the hydroplane Slo-Mo IV, which is still in operation.
